I don't think my pip assessment went well. The assessor never gave me time to answer..For instance "Do you go out ?" I wanted to say I struggle to go out because of anxiety and miss appointments because of this etc and because of physical disabilities...I said" only occasionally." Then she moved on to another question I said I've more to say ,but she said we'd come back to it (which we never did) She asked "Have I got a driving license ... I said" yes ."..but she never gave me chance to say ...but because of physical disabilities someone else drives me now ...Do they take into consideration the filled in pip form ,or is it mainly the assessment ...I sent in lots of evidence...but feel that the assessment went badly .

Hi ST

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

There is a small window for you to write to the Decision Maker but you will need to be quick but first contact the DWP and ask for a copy of the assessment report (PA4).

Understand that the assessor is offering an opinion when they say that you can do the PIP activities, tackling these head-on is unlikely to be successful, you need to show that the basis of that opinion is founded on incorrect information, so try and refer to your evidence to undermine what they have said.

Also, try and stick to issues that lead to your scoring points, I often hear members referring to the assessors spelling, as an example, whilst it may show a lack of professionalism, raising it as an issue isn't going to help you get an award.

Don't waste time criticising the assessor - but refute, inaccuracies in the report and concentrate on the areas where you think you should have scored differently. This will not prevent you from putting in a Mandatory Reconsideration if you need to when the decision comes out.

Make sure that you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against you can put the best case forward that is possible but you won't score points if you do not meet the PIP Descriptors.

Lastly, make sure that your letter makes it clear that you are not requesting a Mandatory Reconsideration but you reserve the right to do so once a Decision has been made.

If you have any more questions then come back to the forum.

So sorry to hear they have treated you so unfairly Susan, hope that makes you feel better in that it's not you, it's them. Did you have anyone with you this time? We are all on a learning curve with these processes, I know it's not nice describing eg your struggles to do toilet things. in front of a friend or relative, but another time, it's better for most people to have someone there to support you. Best wishes, Denby
