PIP Telephone Assessment I think I messed it up was created by Caracal
Just had PIP telephone assessment, after waiting 9 months they gave me 2 days notice, and I just couldn't get myself sorted out in time. Face to face is bad enough, but this was awful, My memory is bad anyway and talking into silence and assuming he is listening (on ansaphone couldn't hear typing) was really off putting, and I forgot things and didn't extrapolate answers, so he would be able to surmise what he likes.
Anyway read on one of the other pages that you can write to the DWP to get a report. How soon is the report ready? And can I write a letter now to clarify my answers that I omitted to say during the assessment? Is there someone specific I should address it to?
Or should I wait for the decision which he said would take at least a couple of months and then appeal if necessary?
Got into a panic because I couldn't find my recent reports, still lost. Forgot I could have asked for a postponement, as it was 9am and I am not good in the morning, if they would take that for an excuse. And even forgot to look on here for suggestions despite using your site for 8 years.
Thank you for any advice you can offer?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

You should be able to request a copy of the assessment report at the end of the week by phoning the DWP office dealing with your claim, the number will be on any letter that you have received from the DWP about yourOIO PIP.
Once you have the report you can decide whether you need to contact the DWP Decision Maker with your comments.

Hi Caracal
Gordon has made a slight typo error 'any letter that you have received from the DWP about your OIO' it should say 'any letter that you have received from the DWP about your PIP.
Once you get a copy of the assessors report, there is a small window for you to write to the Decision Maker but you will need to be quick.
Understand that the assessor is offering an opinion when they say that you can do the PIP activities, tackling these head-on is unlikely to be successful, you need to show that the basis of that opinion is founded on incorrect information, so try and refer to your evidence to undermine what they have said.
Also, try and stick to issues that lead to your scoring points, I often hear members referring to the assessors spelling, as an example, whilst it may show a lack of professionalism, raising it as an issue isn't going to help you get an award.
Make sure that you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against you can put the best case forward that is possible but you won't score points if you do not meet the PIP Descriptors.
Lastly, make sure that your letter makes it clear that you are not requesting a Mandatory Reconsideration but you reserve the right to do so once a Decision has been made.
