PIP Review was created by Yorkyboy
Hi,
I had a Pip review assessment (telephone) with Capita on Mon 14/9/, it only lasted 23 minutes...the lady stated it was only a review so it wouldn't take long ...which it obviously didn't !!
My worry is since then..I rang DWP on Friday 18/9/ to request a copy of the assessors report...they said they hadn't received it yet...ring back Mon 21/9/ ..which I duly did ...same reply !!
I also wrote a letter to DWP requesting a copy of the report, since then I rang on Mon 28/9/....same reply, the chap on the phone said he would ring Capita and find out what was happening & get back to me ...which he did to state he'd been hanging on the phone for 20 minutes with no reply ( welcome to the real world !!) I've left it until today, rang again ...after another 1 hour wait, I was told again that they still hadn't received the report so he put me through to a case manager who said he would chase it up with Capita....is this unusual ??
Can you hide this question & answer please.
Many thanks.

Even in the current situation, we would still expect assessment reports to be submitted to the DWP within a couple of days of the interview.

It is possible that it has been selected for review, the DWP requires 10% (I think) of all reports to be scrutinised, it is also possible that that the assessor has asked your medical contacts for additional information.

Your best bet, rather than spending considerable time on the phone to the DWP is for you to ring Capita for an update.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice Gordon
I rang Capita the following day, I had the information I required within minutes.
They told me that mine was one of the 10% that they regularly scruitinised & it was sent back to the DWP on 5/10/20.
I then received a phone call from the DWP on 9/10/20 to say they had received my PA4 & that they would forward me a copy, which duly arrived today (12/9/20)...4 weeks to the day since my assessment !
Basically my problem now is that the assessment lasted only 23mins (although she put 45mins - my recording doesn't lie !) She appears to have copied my f2f PA4 from 4 years ago nearly to the letter & certainly the same ' tick boxes ' ...even though my conditions have worsened & I forwarded the relevant medical information.
She even got some of my medication wrong....even with the copy of my prescription.
My questions are ....is there any template letters for writing to the DWP @ this moment (ie- before a decision maker has made any decisions) also if you get no joy & get the normal knock back @ the MC stage ...if you go to appeal do you still receive your PIP @ what they have already awarded you or not ?
Also you put that you only have a small window for the above letter....just how small is that window.
Many thanks.

A point before I answer your questions, you say your conditions have deteriorated but this does not always mean that you will score higher or even if you do that you will score sufficiently for a higher award. so did you explain which Descriptors you believe that you now meet on your claim form and why you meet them?

No, there is no template letter it is too personal to the person writing the letter.

There is a small window for you to write to the Decision Maker but you will need to be quick.

Understand that the assessor is offering an opinion when they say that you can do the PIP activities, tackling these head-on is unlikely to be successful, you need to show that the basis of that opinion is founded on incorrect information, so try and refer to your evidence to undermine what they have said.

Also, try and stick to issues that lead to your scoring points, I often hear members referring to the assessors spelling, as an example, whilst it may show a lack of professionalism, raising it as an issue isn't going to help you get an award.

Lastly, make sure that you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against you can put the best case forward that is possible but you won't score points if you do not meet the PIP Descriptors.

Make sure that your letter makes it clear that you are not requesting a Mandatory Reconsideration but you reserve the right to do so once a Decision has been made.

Yes, if you go onto appeal then you will continue to receive any award that has been made.

It's impossible to say how "small" the time to write to the Decision Maker is, some members have reported Decisions in weeks for others it has been months.
