Around August time I received a letter telling me I must apply for PIP by a certain date for me to continue getting my DLA payments, which I did. I filled the form out and sent it off the next day and this week I received a text message and letter telling me I’d have a telephone assessment on the 11th November, I have severe OCD and a form of Depression too. I currently get the middle rate DLA but over the past year I have felt my condition has worsened. Could anyone give me advice on how the telephone assessment will go? Could I have someone else speak for me? And any other tips because through your PIP self-test I checked I may be eligible for enhanced which will be the aim.
The details of phone assessments can be found in our guide. There are ten pages starting from page 81.
You can have someone on the call with you, but just as with face to face assessments, the assessor will expect you to speak to you and for you to do the majority of the talking. if that was not possible you would have to make it clear before the assessment takes place.(reasons are usually down to specific communication or cognitive difficulties).
