PIP is not about a claimant's conditions but rather the limitations that result from them in regard to a set of daily activities.
See our PIP Claim guide for details.

Hi
Along with the excellent information provided by Gordon you may also like to take a look at the following link, please click www.rnib.org.uk/advice/money-benefits-finance
I am visually impaired myself and have made extensive use of the information provided on both RNIB and B&W. sites RNIB also has a helpline so you can phone and talk to someone if you wish. They also have specialist welfare rights advisers who can help if you ever need to appeal a DWP decision. I receive both PIP and ESA largely because of my visual impairment but Gordon is quite right in saying that you have to meet the relevant criteria for the particular benefit - in your case PIP - and you can't qualify 'simply' because you are sight impaired or severely sight impaired.
Good luck!
Kind regards
Mr B
