Can anyone help. I had an assessment for pip renewal. On the assessment report There were some points I agreed with and others not with untruths in the report. I lost my award so wrote a mandatory reconsideration. I wrote to assesment company to complain about the untruths and conflicting information. They called and agreed that the assessment was incorrect and therefore not fit for purpose and have offered me a nee one. The dwp have advised I have another report done if I wish. In the meantime have put my mr on hold while I decide. Although I find them traumatising and am worried I’ll lose the points I did get given now. The dwp said if I don’t wish to I don’t have to but they will do the mr on the unfit report if not. I’m now lost with what I should do. Any help appreciated

Hi Sloth

I cannot tell you what to do here because only you can make that decision. You have already stated that if you don't have another assessment they will make the decision on the inadequate report. Only you can tell how much contrary, incorrect or missing information there is on that report. The person who will be making the decision is not a medical person, so if there is a lot of information missing you will undoubtedly be at a disadvantage. Obviously having another assessment is incredibly stressful and only you can decide if you are able to endure another one. The report must be very poor for them to have agreed that it was so quick.

So you need to weigh up what you think would be the best for you and make your decision on your basis.

I deliberately haven't even said what I would do in your position because you are the person who is an expert on yourself. You know whether you can endure another assessment. Whatever you decide, don't give yourself a hard time over the decision. There is no right or wrong decision - it's what works for you on the given day.

Thank you for your response. I just don’t want to lose the 6 points I am currently given even if they weren’t enough for a award. I find it very overwhelming and included so much evidence to them. But I don’t know if it’s to “screw me over” in the new report and give less? If you know what I mean?. I’ve lost faith in the assesment company due to them putting incorrect information in the first place. This has never happened before am I being paranoid if they are actually trying to help me rather than hinder me lol

I also don’t know if a rework is just done on certain bits or the whole report again? Does anyone know?

I forgot t mention the new report is a “rework” does that mean they will just look into certain questions that were incorrect or will they redo the whole report?

Hi Sloth

I can't tell you how much of your report will be reworked and it is probably impossible for you to find out as although they have admitted your report is inadequate, I doubt they have said in what areas.

I know you're concerned about the six points, but at the moment it's not enough for an award anyway - and whether you have another assessment or not - you had already put in for an MR.

There is always a risk that a claimant can lose points at the MR stage but I've only heard that happening on two occasions. The majority of people find their award unchanged at MR. (Only 17% improve their award).
