Hi all,
I've been reading posts on this site for about a year now,and I have never had the guts to make a post of my own. Firstly I would like to say thank you to Gordon, as all his answers to your posts have really helped me.
I successfully moved over from A DLA lower rate care to Pip lower rate mobility in Feb of this year. However my circumstances had changed and that was not taken into account at my face to face in Jan. I then asked for a MR which I failed at getting a changed in award due to the award only looking at the issues I faced prior to the Assessment.
I then decided an appeal would be too much for me to face so I put in a change of circumstances and filled out the form using all the advice I had seen on this site. I then had a telephone assessment on the 20th October, which went well. I asked for a copy of the report (again something I learned from this site). I received the report which was mostly correct minus a few small things non the less I scored 15 points for DL and 16 for mobility. The gentleman on the phone said the wait could be up to 8 weeks. However I called in to PIP to ask if they had any news on the 8th of Nov, and I was told that they had received the report and are just waiting for an DM to get it. A week later I called back again and they said that the had it and it was on a DM desk. So if I see any extra amount of money in my account then this will be a backdated amount. The lady then said the times at the moment are 2weeks and they have had mine over 3 weeks at this point so there is a slight delay.
This all gas me worried as everyday I am waiting for that brown envelope to ruin my life. I really am the least optimistic human being going.
I am not sure why I have even written all this, I guess getting out my anxiety will help.
What do you think is going on? Is this favourable towards me or not? Have I had an average or long wait in regards to the DM having the assessors report and the decision being made? Do I call again, or should I leave it for fear of looking to anxious/greedy. If I should call again, when?
Sorry I know this is a whole host of questions however I'm so worried I can't sleep not even with all my meds.
I have my award due to, comorbid Bipolar 2, Eupd, anxiet , depression. Hypermobility, fibromyalgia and nerve pain.
Thanks in advance
Niki

I'm afraid I think two or three weeks to be wildly optimistic at the moment most members as you were originally told waiting times are around eight or more weeks although there is some variation.
It is important you understand that the time you wait for a Decision is in no way reflective of what that Decision might be your file is simply sitting in a pile on a DMs desk waiting until it reaches the top.
Whilst the Decision does lie with the DWP DM and they can stray from the recommendation of the assessor it would be unusual for this to happen so it sounds as if you are a strong candidate for an Enhanced award of both components.
You can try ringing again, maybe in a couple of weeks the letters can take a while to get to the claimant and they may be able to tell you the result on the phone.

I gave them a call today to ask if I had time to send in any extra information. The lady on the phone was lovely, however I think she took me wrong as she said she would leave a note on the system. This got me all flustered and I just ended the call politely with her, though I was sure they was something wrong.
The anxiety was to much and when my partner came to see me I asked him to give them a call back just to clarify. When we got through to them they said that the claim was held back due to a note left on the system on 1st December (today). We explained the mistake and the lady was lovely. She tried to call the DM but couldn't reach her so said she would Skype call her and get her to look at my assessment form. She said "don't quote me but you should hopefully have your decision this week".
I'm so annoyed at myself for being impatient as it could have cost me. I also have this issue with feeling like I don't deserve things which has made this whole process worse for me. My mind won't stop racing. Bloody DWP and their stupid brown envelope.
I'll keep this updated, just incase any members are reading this and would like to follow my journey.

Hi again,
First of I want to say thank you to everyone on this forum it has helped me with my anxiety during the long waiting period.
I was so anxious I had my friend call on Tuesday as I had my council tax support stopped so assumed my PIP was stopped. When we called the lady said that the decision had not been made yet so the support going down wasn't due to them.
Long story short, a few hours later I got a lovely call from a lady from the DWP to say sorry about the wait and the anxiety this has caused me and that my PIP decision had been made and I am now on the highest rate for everything. So Enhanced mobility and care for three years!
Obviously, I am thrilled, however, I am not very anxious as I wanted Enhanced mobility to be able to get a Motability vehicle in order to be able to get to my appointments and maybe one day get to the point where I can go for a drive now and then. I am worried about how quickly I should sign up to the scheme and if the DWP will see me signing up to the scheme basically the day I get the Enhanced rate as a negative thing.
I'd like to ask how quickly did other people on the Motability scheme go on the scheme?
Did you join straight away, or continue to use taxi's and family to get you around for some time after your decision.
I hope this makes sense. I am just worried that it would reflect poorly on me, I always feel like I don't deserve things and I'm still getting to grips about deserving this.
Any help or answers would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Notable Survivor
That really is terrific news, congratulations and well done. Absolutely delighted to hear that you have been awarded your enhanced PIP award. Great news.
I cannot answer your question apart from saying that you signing up for the mobility scheme has nothing to do with DWP. www.motability.co.uk, members on this forum will have first hand knowledge of the motability scheme and DWP.
