Maximum amount of time please? was created by beckaroons31
Hi,
I've never posted before,so i hope i have done it correctly?
Does anyone know if there is a maximum amount of time that the DWP have to adhere to,in regards to a PIP renewal please?
Brief background on my claim,
I was originally sent the renewal form in December 2019,due to my Dad's passing 3 days before Christmas, admittedly i put off filling in the form for the first couple of weeks.
I eventually completed the form, included pages of my Doctors electronic system notes and relevant tests to my condition.
I sent recorded delivery and the DWP received the form in the first week of January 2020.
I received confirmation they had received it by text.
Fast forward and due to Covid my review had been extended to 13th December.
I had my telephone assessment on Friday 2nd October, which lasted for 1 hour, and 27 mins.
The health assessor was very kind and patient.
I had a text to say the DWP had received the report on Wednesday 7th October, and gave a estimated 8 weeks before i would hear back from them.
I contacted the helpline this Morning, and when i said i was concerned as the 13th December was only just over 2 weeks away,i was told my current claim had been extended to March 2021.
The advisor told me my review was currently with a DWP decision maker and that he couldn't give me a timescale.
He did sound surprised as he read through it,and confirmed that i had sent it back January 2020.
I know that with Covid the waiting times on decisions are longer, but on Friday it would have been 47 weeks from them receiving my renewal form and medical evidence.
Surely they would have to send me their decision within a year?If my reward is only for 2 years.
Any advice or help anyone can give,i would really appreciate right now,as my anxiety is through the roof, and we are not even into December yet, which is going to be a really bad time for me and my family.
Thank You.

Hi Becky79
There is no rule about how quickly they have to process reviews. You are one of the unlucky ones where the process has been spread out. I'm afraid there are many people in your position.
This is obviously an incredibly stressful time for you because of the anniversary of your Dad's passing. You know they have extended your award date until March 21. I would try and let this go at the moment and if you have not heard anything by the beginning of Feb 21 contact them again. Just give yourself the space you need.

Thank you for your reply Bis.
I think you are probably right, and its probably for the best to maybe try and push it aside for now,
It's still at the back of my mind of course, but then my anxiety and emotions are heightened at the moment anyway.
