I can walk without so much pain but what I am doing is walking with incorrect posture so it doesn't hurt me, this is not helping correct my pelvic tilt, if i correct my posture it's very painful, I'm much slower and need to rest a bit quite often. I was asked by UC if i used my Smartcrutch es to go longer distances, I have be reserving their use to bad pain days but recently it was suggested it's o.k.to use them preventatively to go further or more, i tried them tho go further i could tell they help me walk with correct posture, out but but I feel I need to do this now to build up core muscle strength so my pelvis resigns eventually, hopefully. I have no new medical evidence to support this should i put it anyway, i think they may have previous evidence from years ago.?

Hi Elizabeth,
Welcome to Benefits and Work.
I am very sorry to hear that you have difficulties with walking.
I am not totally sure what you are asking. If I understand right, then you are wondering what you should have mentioned about moving around under UC. The rules will expect that you use aids that are reasonable. If you have been prescribed crutches then it will be anticipated you will need to use them. Remember that it is not just about distance. Pain, fatigue etc are all relevant, as is severe discomfort, which could include breathlessness. Even if you have one or two good days, it will be the majority pattern that is relevant.
Check out the Members Guides if you haven't done so already. Since you have mobility difficulties if you don't already have one you might be eligible to receive a Blue Badge. In addition PIP is a benefit available to people with disabilities, either with mobility or daily living (care) needs. Or both! You can claim this without affecting UC. If you don't already claim PIP then this could provide extra income for you.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
