ESA odd text was created by daisychain59
I had an odd text from ESA which I have been claiming for 6 years now. It thanked me for my enquiry, that I didn't need to call and that payment would be made on 'date' - my usual payment.
Do PIP applications look at ESA awards in their decision process? I am in the review process.

Hi daisychain59
Thank you for your post, I have read it a few times, but not sure which benefits are being reviewed, PIP or ESA.
As stated in our current newsletter DWP are looking at amalgamating PIP, ESA and UC assessments which will shortly be trialled in the London area. I am not aware of PIP applications looking at ESA in their decisions mainly as the descriptors are by and large different although one or two questions may cross over.
A previous moderator Gordon did a spreadsheet of the crossovers which can be found in the members guide link called 'UC/ESA and PIP overlap '

Hi daisychain59,
There are times when DWP is adamant that because you can do one of the ESA activities perfectly well, you can do PIP activities perfectly well. Then there are times when DWP will be adamant that even though you can't do one of the ESA activities, it doesn't matter, because it's not relevant to PIP.
There are other times (or maybe the same times?) when the Judges have ruled that DWP can not be so adamant!!!!!

Unfortunately, DWP have, and always will try and cross reference benefits. (Despite the rulings in the Courts!) That is also why, it seems that eg when one benefit ends with zero points there will suddenly be a review on another seemingly unrelated benefit.
Forewarned is forearmed I guess!

Hi,
I have come across a judge requesting that the DWP submit the assessment reports from one benefit so that they can be included as evidence in the bundle for consideration of another benefit. Since then I have recommended to people that they get a copy of their assessments reports even if they are happy with the award and write a letter to the DWP saying that although they are not challenging the award they wish to put on record anything which they fundementally disagree with.

Hi daisy. Hope this explains further clarification.
I can tell you from my own experience they do use other assessments from each other, it happened to me in 2012, I was on ESA SG and then applied for DLA they used both ESA85 for my DLA.
I've had it since to for my PIP..
Here is some further information regarding sharing between various benefits.

centres—I will cover specifically the points raised by the hon. Member for Plymouth, Moor View (Alison Seabeck) in a minute—and extended their opening hours.
We have increased the number of paper-based assessments, so in many cases it should be possible, based on the paperwork that people produce, to make a decision without having to call them in for an assessment. The hon. Member for Edinburgh East is right that, at the beginning of the process, the number ran very low and below where we expected it to be. We have improved the process. I hope she will be pleased to know that, when claimants have been unable to work and have gone through the work capability assessment, we are joining up the process, so that we take the ESA85—the report from the work capability assessment—and put it with their PIP form and any other evidence they have provided. That is enabling us to make more decisions based on the paperwork without needing to call people in for assessments. I hope that is sensible.

By the way I advise everyone to get all your reports for all of your benefits, that includes ESA85 if you had assessment, or ESA85A paper based, for PIP it's a PA3 if paper based, if you had assessment it's PA4.
I have everyone of mine and will continue to do so, you are entitled to them.
I was formely known as (GoingOffMyHeadWithThisGovernment) Won PIP November 2017 ongoing award HR both. Now kept and got my ESA Support group but took a while.
