PIP-MR advice needed/ got 2 Standard same as bef was created by VIA
Hello dear fellow forum members,
I said here I was sending in my PIP review form and would get back to you with an update.
Within 10 days of sending it in, I got a PIP.7003 “I have looked at your award form’. That was fast.
I was complaining here that I always get standard rates for daily living and mobility despite being severely disabled and that they always add aids for virtually all the activities....
Well! They did it again!!!
- My only comfort is that it is for 4 years instead of 2 years this time
- and that I did not have to have a telephone assessment mainly because I sent in lots of evidence as they say they have enough information to decide how much help I need without a face to face consultation.
I have a few questions about the PIP mandatory reconsideration (MR) is someone could kindly help me:
1) - If I ask for an MR what are generally the % of me either: - losing my standard rate of either daily living/mobility?
Their letter does not mention that we risk losing part or all of it.
2) - Is there a % risk of them of them lowering my award period which was just increased to 4 years?
There may be a risk, but is the risk very low, percentage wise, if I may ask?
2) I thought I read somewhere (not necessarily here) maybe a few years back that they have called us on occasions, offering us a better rate that on the current award.
I do not recall if they call or used to call to prevent us from going to appeal maybe?
And I am not sure if it was related to pip or esa, when you claim both, what you read sometimes can get muddled :-/ ;-0
3) Also this looks to be a paper assessment. It only give her full name at he end of her pip review decision.
How can I know if it is just the DWP officer who made a decision looking at my file, or if she asked for a medical professional first ie nurse or physiotherapist first and then she made a decision?
4) I believe that before a pip officer makes a decision on PIP we can ask for the report from ie the nurse or physiotherapist that saw us (or rang us) who wrote their report, and that in that case we can ask for that report.
How ever when one gets a paper assessment I do not think there is any report I can ask?
Am I right in assuming that the pip.7003 was written by a dwpofficer whose goal is to save money and award as little as possible?
Or can I ask them who made the decision on my case as I only have a name, and no job description.
Thank you all for your help.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Olympia
Points 1) and 2) we have no statistics on these and have never seen ones published about them. Only 17% of MRs are won and the majority of awards stay the same. I have only ever known two people's awards to be downgraded at the MR stage, but of course there is always a risk.
Improvement on current award - these are sometimes offered when people put in an appeal and they are offered before a tribunal can take place.
Who wrote your report? - You would need to ring and ask to confirm this.
You can ask for a PA3 report - to see how the claim was assessed. Be aware that at least one member was told recently that their review had been done without a PA3 report because they were so busy.
