hello, received a message on my phone today 29th march at 4:11pm, from dwp, thanking me for sending them my, 'how your ability affects you form' i first received this form on saturday 6th march, i filled it in, then posted it wednesday 17th march by post office tracking, dwp received it and signed for it friday 19th march. it is the standard message, that they may need me to attend a consultation with a health professional, and will contact me again if they do. i think they have already made their minds up that i will have to have one, even though i informed them, that my condition has not improved one bit since my last consultation. when do you think can i expect word? or is it the 'how long is a piece of string' syndrome? do they take pleasure in putting people through this uncertainty?

Hi magpiejoe08,
Probably the string answer! But hopefully not too long!

As far as I can see they are unwilling to believe that if you have inherited [or other] conditions of which the effects on your Daily Living and Mobility will only deteriorate with passage of time, that you will have as bad or worse problems doing the descriptor activities with each length of award ending, ie passage of time.
This suits the able-ist agenda that all disabled people are cheating scroungers who MUST be treated with suspicion at all times. I took a friend to her assessment once, and we had the only truly decent assessor I have met/ heard of. She was no longer there when I went to the same place a while later with our daughter; I know because we watched them all come back from lunch as we waited. So she had left; I personally think most decent types don't stay long....

Hi Magpie Joe,

That text is a standard text, and doesn't mean you'll necessarily be called for assessment. I had to renew PIP late last year and had the same message, fully expecting to have to have a medical assessment as all my medical letters are pretty old now (I have static conditions with no regular need for appointments or treatment) but was awarded PIP at the same rate as before without a problem.

I was really surprised, but just wanted to let you know it does happen sometimes!

Best wishes

R
