New claim form as current claim ending. was created by Mollymoo99
Hi can anyone give me advice please,

I received a letter saying my claim was ending, current claim was won at tribunal.

I phoned up, received my form with a date to be sent back to DWP for the 5th April.

I was going to post it recorded delivery on Thursday, however it dawned on me Friday and Monday (5th) are bank holidays, so my form would not be received by them til the 6th April, missing the deadline.

I received a letter from them today, reminding me to post my form however the date was left blank on it.

I called today to ask for extension and an automated message said they are extending time frame for forms to be returned by 3 months.

I wasn’t convinced by this message and waited to be put through to an advisor.

She said I have nothing to worry about and that the recorded message was correct and I still have 76 days to post it? I am still worried and not convinced, scared I have been given wrong information and they will disallow my claim because it will be two days late? Especially as my current case was won at tribunal and this is being treated as a new claim not a review.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated, I can’t put it in writing to ask for extension as would be in same predicament re bank holidays, they wouldn’t receive it either till after the deadline,

Kind regards,

Loubylou

Replied by Catherine on topic New claim form as current claim ending.
Hello Loubylou,

A number of members have told us that there is now a 3 month time frame to return forms, so that sounds right.

The only thing you need to be aware of is the end date on your current award. If that ends before they have had time to carry out their assessment you could end up with a period when you are not receiving PIP payments, even though your new award would be back dated.

So it is obviously safest to send off your for, as soon as you can, but you need have no worries about being a couple of days late.
