Telephone consultation PIP was created by dawsden
Hi all
Until my last assessment I was on enhanced mobility. This was taken away despite my conditions worsening and being awarded enhanced rate for daily living? I took it to MR but as expected was turned down. I was too exhausted and worn down to take this to appeal.
My award was extended due to covid. I then received a review form which I returned with heaps of evidence & also took the advice from this site and told them that I felt my mobility award was wrong. I have now had a txt saying I have a telephone consultation on the 18th May!
I'm concerned about this as I'm deaf (which they are aware of) and I don't hear on the phone at all well. Should I object to this consultation? Also if it does go ahead, do I have tye right to record it? Can anyone give me any advice as to what to expect from this consultation? It states in txt consultation, not review or assessment?
Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer
Kindest regards
Denise

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hello Denise,
First of all, in case you are unaware, your full name seems to be showing. If you would like to change this there are instructions here.
My full name is showing, how can I stop it.
I am sorry to hear about your previous experience and I think you did the right thing in stating in this review that you believe the present award is wrong.
If your hearing is not good enough to be able to take part in a telephone consultation then you should tell them! Remember too that it could go on for over an hour, so you need to be able to maintain concentration for that length of time. It is important that you do not have a consultation where you are unable to fully present your difficulties.
You may feel that you can circumvent the hearing on the telephone problem by having someone with you who interprets what the assessor says, but only you know if that is possible.
We have a whole section in the PIP guide about telephone consultations / assessments (the same thing) which I am sure you will find helpful.
PIP resources The first link, starting at page 89.
Do come back to us if you have any more questions. I am sorry for how long it has taken someone to reply to your post. We are generally much quicker, but there have been a flood of posts to reply to in the last few days.
