ESA WCA Review - Due in Dec 2021 was created by jasonbudd1984
I have been on ESA since 2014. I was placed in the Support Group after a period in the WRAG group. For reference I am on PIP Enhanced Care. Apparently my risk WCA review by the DWP was scheduled for Dec 2021. Is there an indication, given the times we live in, that this may be delayed? It is just a source of concern. My mental health condition remains the same, however it feels like a rather 'closed' and removed process I can't influence.

Hi jasonbudd1984
We can't give you a definitive answer here.. Some members who have been worried about up and coming reviews for ESA and have rung the DWP to ask. Most of them have been told their reviews have been put back one or two years. Because ESA is a continuous award people claimants won't receive a letter about this. So you may well find that your review is delayed, but we can't tell you for certain - so you can wait and see or ring and find out. Just be warned that some people have been told they can't say when the next review will be.

Just to say thanks BIS and Jason, it's always reassuring to hear that others out there are also well and truly in limbo with regards to reassessment dates unknown!
Kind regards

Thanks for your relpy. I had assumed there was no formal, overt statement about this; whilst some kind of delay being rather inevitable given the circumstances.
As it is a 'continous' award as you say, I am going to work on the basis for being in limbo for some time after Dec 2021...

Apologies for really delayed follow up.
When it does come to having the ESA reviewed, after application this seems to be a very 'internal' to the DWP process. Is there the possibility of appealing a decision?
I tried to do some 'permitted work' (all with rules, informed DWP via forms). However the complex mental health issues I have genuinely made it not work out. Can/should I inform them about this? As they will only have the form, and presumably be able to see that I started and stopped.
The issues I had that meant for the 'support group' I believe to be the same, even if I am not in 'crisis' as I once was. Just wondering how to ensure this remains the case from their perspective.
Thanks for the guidance given, and any further.

Hi Jasonbudd1984
You're trying to look quite a long time into the future and I think what you do or don't say will depend on where you are with your health at the time and we can't advise on that.
If you don't like a decision, you can always appeal.
