PIP Mandatory Request is backdated to when?

Dear forum members and moderators,

I have sent my Mandatary Reconsideration (MR) request on my PIP about 8 weeks ago.

I am wondering when I received the MR decision back to which date the new decision ‘award’ is backdated to.
Is it the day they make the decision or the day it is noted on their system that I requested the MR 8 weeks ago?

Many thanks.
Kind wishes

Hi Olympia,
If your MR is successful, you will get a back dated award until either the date of original claim date for a new claim, or from when any previous claim stopped/reduced for renewal claims or following a DLA claim. If by virtue of a successful MR you now become entitled to a severe disability premium , or other premium or a carer wishes to claim Carer’s Allowance, then any of these would also get back dated in the same way.
I hope this helps.

Thank you very much LL26,

What you are saying makes perfect sense.
I should have thought about it.
If I make an MR request on the original decision it makes sense that the new decision award is backdated to the original decision date.

Thank you very much.

Kind wishes
