Recording PIP review assessment was created by goatbadger
Hello,

I've got my PIP telephone assessment call on Monday morning.

I've read the great advice on here about the assessment - thanks to authors; it's so helpful and has made me feel confident (but still nervous) to take on the appointment and do my best with it.

The advice is to covertly record the call - which I will - but wondering if:

A) is it likely I'll be directly asked if I'm recording the call?
AND
B) what to do if I am challenged? Do I have to admit I am recording if asked? I was thinking of turning the question around and asking "Are YOU recording it? I assumed you would be doing the recording?"

Any thoughts appreciated, thanks!

Glen

Hello gbu82,

A mixture of confidence and nerves is probably the perfect cocktail!

I have heard second hand of people being asked if they are recording the call, but have not met it myself. I have sat in on a number of telephone assessments and the question has not been raised. So I would say it is possible that you will be asked, but unlikely.

What you say is very much up to you, we all have our own style of handling things. Possibly the simplest way round is to record the call, but to immediately stop at the point where you asked the question, then you can truthfully say that you are not. As a point of information it is most unlikely that they will be recording it, and I assume that they will tell you if they are.

I suspect our wonderful members will come up suggestions for you.

For the benefit of anyone else wondering this -

I wasn't asked, and this wasn't a problem - I just used my tablet discreetly (on silent) to record the call from my mobile (on speakerphone). Handy tip from this site's guide!

I was asked if I was holding the phone though, and explained I had it on speaker phone due to my condition. I guess this is asked to make an assumption that you can do a handstand, cook a roast for 8, etc, etc
