LCWRA , PIP reviews was created by Penny1949
Would you please be able to assist as regards to LCWRA. I’m a carer for my partner who has recently been awarded enhanced and enhanced daily living and mobility components of PIP. The award is for an ongoing period with light touch review after 10 years. He has also been put into the LCWRA group by, as I am led to believe, the local job centre who deals with our claim due to our claiming universal credit. I have tried to research time period for LCWRA online and as far as I can gather from citizens advice website, it says that DWP will usually reassess LCWRA every 1, 2 or 3 years. It also says that the DWP might decide they won’t need to reassess you in future. We are new to universal credit and the benefits system but are confused that DWP in one decision, PIP have decided on medical evidence and Capita HCP recommendations that review is not necessary and award should be enhanced and enhanced rates but that DWP, when considering universal credit, have decided in my partners case reassess in 3 years when they have used exactly the same medical evidence as PIP, Capita HCP. My partners medical evidence, particularly from his GP, also made it known that face to face or remote assessment would be damaging to his mental health and both decisions were made on papers. Any future assessments, particularly if those are to reoccur regards LCWRA every 1, 2 or 3 years, are going to cause such issues for my partner and his mental health. We had believed that DWP, PIP and DWP universal credit decisions would have been similar as both considered the same medical evidence even though that occurred separately. Is anyone able to please give any advice or feedback on this. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Penny1949
UC and PIP are currently still assessed separately and although there is some overlap in the criteria it is not identical. and they are looked at by teams and health professionals. Many claimants who have been awarded both benefits find themselves in the same position as your partner and I'm sorry at the current time regardless of the evidence you presented that's the system.
Your partner has a 10 year ongoing award for PIP with a light touch review. No one actually knows what that means yet as the DWP has not decided and we won't know for a couple of years when the first light touch reviews start happening.
UC can be reviewed at 1, 2 or 3 years, though many people (not all) find that it is much longer because the DWP are dealing with a backlog. As you have your GPs support whenever a review form is sent - you fill it in and you ask for a paper-based assessment.

Hi BIS , many thanks. Are you able to say whether or not my partner will have to approach his GP again for a supporting letter when it comes to UC or PIP review or is he able to resubmit previous GP letters which have already been provided. Those GP letters include that my partners conditions are both severe as well as permanent and that he is not able to return to employment. Much appreciate your help.
Thanks, Penny

Hi Penny1949
If your partner is reviewed in three years time, you will probably want to get an up to date letter (though you don't have to). If it was less than three years - use the most recent one you have.
I got a letter from a GP for someone last year and all it said was 'condition and prognosis unchanged since my last letter dated X, and we sent in a copy of the old letter. The DWP were quite happy with that and the person's award just continued.
