PIP Review Form - 3 Month Deadline?

Hi,

I received a PIP review form and the return date is 3 months from the date they've sent out the form. They had already extended my award by 9 months, and this review form arrived slightly earlier than 6 months before the end of the extension (in fact, the deadline is 8 months before the extended award ends, if this makes sense.

I'm just wondering if other members had been receiving forms with a 3 month period to submit, as a friend of mine recently received theirs and it was to be returned within 1 month.

Thanks,

ka

Hi Ka

One member in the last week reported that the DWP have just started to use three-month deadlines for the return of forms because the DWP have had a serious IT problem. You could just ring and check that your letter is correct and then you will have peace of mind and not have to worry about it.

Thanks for your reply. I wasn't worried as such just curious, particularly as the friend had received theirs in the last month (the deadline for mine is in the next week, I only sent it off last week but I did send it tracked). I am now a little concerned that they mightn't process it in time, i.e. realiser e that they have received it if there's a backlog or their IT is screwed. Nothing I can do but wait I guess.

Hi BIS,
Were you referring to my post (which I'll copy-paste below) or someone else's?

I called PIP yesterday and, after being on hold for literally a whole hour, I was told that everyone's PIP review deadlines have been extended by 85 days because PIP is experiencing an IT / computer system melt down! The call handler told me that this extension also applies to returning the review forms. This doesn't make sense to me. If PIP is behind schedule with processing reviews then it does make sense for them to extend everyone's awards, yes, but would that really also result in automatic extensions of everyone's deadlines for returning the forms? It seems too good to be true?! I have brain-fog so I'm sorry if I'm being clueless? Has anyone else heard anything about this PIP IT mess and the impact it's having on deadlines for submitting review forms?

I have extremely severe anxiety, amplified during phone-calls so I can barely speak or process what's being said to me and, because of this, I can't face calling PIP again. I really hope other people will share what they are told about the deadlines for returning PIP review forms?

Hi Ka,

The same happened with me. My award which was due to end in June 2021 was extended by 9 months.

Then I received the review form in April (which is 11 months before the new end date) with a three month deadline. I sent it on 29 June for next day delivery. That’s 10 days before the deadline.

I have been wondering the same. However, I sent it before the 10th July deadline. I had to arrange appointments and letters to complete the form. They received it so the claimant can’t be held responsible for their delays.

Best wishes,

Josh
