Hello Catherine,
and thank-you for your reply. I have again phoned DWP as you told me. It was not 9a.m. due to still having a bit of brain fog over my medication, but I am managing better at least. Are these phone-lines for DWP working alright, they say they are taking calls for pension credit but due to coronavirus only want new claims or others reporting a change of circumstances. You can stay on the line and wait if it is something urgent about pension credit so the same as yesterday I waited.
Today an employee of DWP took my details and looked up my pension credit and told me the same thing it is about the disability premium not getting paid. I told her what has happened in regard pf my PIP and having an end date, I told her that yesterday as well.
I asked if the address on the P.C letter is where I can send my original award letter to.
The employee at DWP said to me that my PIP award letter was not needed as my PIP files are all at the DWP so they have them. I was also told that I had phoned them yesterday and had spoken to someone and they had told me they would send information over to the correct department, and the time frame for getting an answer was between 5- 10 days so wait for the answer.
Even sending the award letter by recorded delivery to them may not hurry things up as it has to go through the handling section first. so I am not sure if it is worth doing that.
Should I just wait and see what happens as they are not too pleased when they keep getting phone calls from me.
Thank-you.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Oh dear Pauline I am sorry you were given a hard time on the phone. If they say you will get an answer in 5 - 10 days time I guess it is reasonable to wait until then to ring them again to find out what is happening. I personally would not leave it any longer than the 10 days. (I would personally given them a ring after 5, perhaps I have developed thicker skin
)

Hi Pauline,
It is entirely possible that all this will be sorted in the 5 to 10 days alleged by DWP. If not, then send a letter clearly marked COMPLAINT. Write something along the lines that you are entitled to a Disability Premium on the basis of your PIP award, which was recently extended. DWP have failed to pay this from [give dates]
If DWP do not pay the full amount owed within 14 days [of the date of this letter,] you will be seeking advice from a Solicitor with a view to seeking Judicial Review for Maladministration comprising the failure to pay lawful benefits.
I suspect that you won't have to seek such advice, but if DWP don't pay up, then this would be the appropriate next steps anyway. Keep a copy and send recorded delivery.
Complaints go to a dedicated department who seem to have more clout and knowledge than the normal advisers.
Good luck!

Hi. I have been waiting weeks for my Severe Disability Premium to be paid and backdated (16 wks now). I have phoned twice; sent in two lots of forms and scream often. It is really quite ridiculous. Mine was stopped whilst my PIP was renewed (new claim as Tribunal win last time), but the PIP part of things was sorted really quickly, but it seems the ‘inputters’ have forgotten all about SDP. Good Luck! Hopefully they will pay us both soon.
