Is it worth amending letter manually? was created by Chlorinated
Hi
I had cfs since 2008 and was diagnosed in 2009.
I’m just about to send my pip form off and have just been given a supporting letter by my doctor. Her letter mistakenly says i had it since 2010 however I need to send form Monday special delivery first thing as my deadline is the Tuesday and I already have had 3 extensions.
Clinic have told me letter can’t be edited until tuesday so I either send now as is or I send seperately after Form deadline.
I’m making an issue out of this as 2008 shows my condition is long standing and I’d like to get long award. Should I Write in the form the letter is In error and should I get it amended or is the 2 years likely to amount to no real longer award so better to just leave as is?
Thanks.

Hi Chlorinated
You have to do what you feel is right. If you believe that two years makes a difference then get a corrected letter and send it afterwards, especially if you're going to keep worrying about it. But if you decide the two years really doesn't make a difference then just send the letter with the form now.
I hope you do get the award length you are hoping for, but be aware that PIP are giving much shorter awards than they did in the past.

Hi, personally I would include a note in the form saying you will be sending a letter you are waiting for and will be sending it very soon. Then send it a soon as you can, and phone them when the tracking says it has arrived, to check/nudge that the letter has been connected with the form.
Best wishes

Hi. I personally would strike through the date given and put the correct date. I have done this on hospital letters before when they put onset date as 2012 instead of 2010. As long as you include a letter that supports the date. Also put in brackets (see letter dated blah) next to the crossing out.
