You write that your psychiatric report says you can’t drive but you say you drive to your daughters?

Hi Jenga, forgive me [as the wife of a parson on the Spectrum and waiting for my own assessment] for jumping in. While it is true L needs to be careful about what medical evidence says/seems to say, the daughter's school is a short and extremely familiar journey. Therefore it is much less likely to cause sensory overload that trying to make an unfamiliar journey, and the descriptors do distinguish between the two I believe. Also being in a car shuts out possibly problem sounds like people shouting, distant horns and alarms etc. and controls temperature and keeps most smells and wind off.
These of course are the sort of things assessors have no clue about and so we have to tell them all of it in so many words.
Best wishes,
Denby

Hi L,
The previous advice is all good, especially what BIS has said about MR. I wanted to say something important here, and I apologise that this may come across as a curved ball.
If your Consultant has stated you should not drive due to your health then to continue to do so could invalidate your insurance, it could also of course put yourself and other people at risk. It could also invalidate your driving licence. As a driver you are obliged by law to disclose matters that could affect your driving to DVLA. This could comprise the fact that your Consultant has advised you should not do this. I appreciate that you may rely on your car to access places, and perhaps only go short distances, but a serious incident could still happen however short the distance. By law you should notify DVLA, they might suspend your driving licence pending enquiries. There is a very real risk that you are committing at least one criminal offence and there is an equal risk that you may be putting the public at risk.
I have been involved in a tribunal case where a similar point was made about driving ability and DWP informed DVLA, so please don't assume that information won't be passed on.
I am sorry that this is not good news to pass on, but it is important for you to be aware of the risks here.
