Help please was created by Jo Rose
Hi, I am in receipt of PIP enhanced daily living & standard mobility. My Mum & sisters were always the ones who helped me so my Husband could stay in work. However, Mum passed away December & both of my sisters are returning to work nxt month.
I really struggle with the day to day essentials like getting out of bed & getting myself n 3 Yr old sorted, but I have support at the moment. Have any of you had any experience in this area, looking for a point in the right direction as I don't know what to do.
I have ptsd through birth trauma & suffer anxiety and depression, my symptoms have escalated since losing Mum & we have just lost my Nan in the last wk. I have started self harming again, I was not doing too bad on that front but I think it's down to the added stress.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Jo Rose,
I'm sorry to hear that you are going through a tough time. We are all thinking of you.
It is clear you are a vulnerable woman with a young child. There may be local charities that offer support to help families. Otherwise you may wish to contact your local social services department. I appreciate that this may make you shudder with horror, however they do have a duty to support vulnerable individuals and families. A support worker should come round and assess your needs and a care plan will be drawn up. If you are eligible for care then this will be arranged.
You may also wish to contact your GP and explain to him the difficulties you have. He may also be able to suggest other support agencies or make a referral.
I am aware of social services supporting the mother/children, to enable the husband to continue working so don't feel this won't be available to you.
Please do not ignore your own needs.
Take care.

Hi Jo Rose, and I too and sending you my sympathetic thoughts, so many losses when you have such struggles. I would add to LL26's good and kind advice, your Husband should call the local county Carers' Association as he is legally entitled to a Carer's Assessment of his needs to help him support you without it harming him. What is offered varies a lot from area to area, having moved myself I have found this. But he might as well have whatever help is going, and who knows it could lead to some useful contacts for you and the family too. I am expecting a cheque for over £100 towards extra costs of the pandemic from our local Association.
With good wishes
