PIP ASSESSMENT was created by Bellie
I have a telephone assessment for PIP next week. Evidence has been sent in to DWP in stages. Due to the time it is taking for professional input, some of that evidence is e-mails eg communication between myself and the social worker dealing with my care assessment (not completed as yet, confirmation of blue badge award, e-mail from covid rehab specialist regards being dropped from course due to being too poorly etc I am wondering where help is not finalised, will the fact it's in progress count. I have submitted a letter from psychological services also, but it's only an initial appointment letter. I am on waiting lists now for 2 types of therapy but have no paperwork to prove it etc. Just wondering if what there is, will be considered, and also, IF more paperwork comes through, do I just mention that to the assessor, or does it need to be sent to DWP?

Hi Bellie

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

Yes I would mention it to the assessor that you are waiting for further evidence to come through.

Good luck for next week.

If you have a look at our PIP guide at the link below you will see that there are a number of pages which include advice on telephone assessments. A lot of the questions are those that would have been asked if you had a face to face assessment.

- Write yourself a bullet point list of any particular points you want to get over, so you have it by you during the assessment, tick them as you cover them during the assessment.
- have paper and pens to hand to make any notes such as the assessors name, date, time
- make sure you are seated in a comfortable chair, you are going to be there a while and at table to make notes
- if you can't hear or understand what is being asked then ask them to repeat the question
- don’t let the assessor rush you and get you flustered.
- don't forget to have a glass of water if needed so you don't get a dry throat and lose your voice!

Don't forget to contact DWP 48 hours after the assessment and ask for a copy of the assessors report called PA4.

Dear Bellie, please please ask ASAP for your assessment to be recorded and also record it yourself. This is quite legit for personal use but do not mention it as assessor would almost certainly terminate the assessment if you did. It's a case of, hope she/he-is-fair-and-truthful but much much better safe than sorry to have the evidence if they are not fair and totally truthful.
Hope it goes well, don't forget to ask 48 hours after it for your copy of the PA4 which you are entitled to. If denied just call again.
