PIP Current Award end date: 12th July 23
Standard care & Enhanced mobility

Award review form dated: 11th Nov 22
Received this: 28th Nov 22
Due to this, having Covid, the postal strikes & all the Dec/Jan bank holidays a manager from the Disability service center gave me a extension date to get it in by 19th January 23.

Actually posted (recorded special delivery) on: 6th Jan 23
DWP text confirming receipt: 9th Jan 23

Received this text:
On: Wednesday 5th April 23:

"We still have your PIP form and will be progressing your review as soon as we can. You may still need an assessment with a health professional. Your PIP will continue to be paid until we review your claim. You only need to contact us if your circumstances change."

I have not had a medical assessment for this review, do not have an upcoming appointment or heard anything apart from the above text.

My Partner receives Carers Allowance for me - which passports us to Income Support (as a couple inc disability premiums) - which in turn passports us for our Housing benefit & Council tax support - I do not receive any ESA etc as I receive income support.

So if my PIP stops or is interrupted I lose everything & get kicked on to UC :(.

If I understand the text - my PIP will continue to be paid until a decision has been made.

My questions are:
What happens to my Carers Allowance, Income Support etc?
Will they continue with the PIP? should I contact the DWP for a letter / statement?
If so, when is the best time to do this?

What happens about my blue badge?

When will the new Award run from? backdated from the 12th July 23? or the date they make a decision?

If they continue paying for x months, then decide to reduce my PIP award (they down graded me from enhanced to standard care last time) will I have to pay the difference back

Your current PIP award should be extended until a Decision is made on this review, it should be actioned 30 days before your current End Date. Check that this has happened closer to the time.

Your IS and CA will continue in payment while you still have a PIP award so there should be no interruption in your payments.

Your Blue Badge will require a letter detailing the new award End Date, currently, claims are being extended by 3 or 12 months. If you have less than 12 months left then your Local Authority may not accept the letter but you can still apply directly to the LA for a Badge.

It's impossible to say when the award will run from. If it is clearly identifiable that any deterioration that would result in a higher award had occurred at least three months before you returned your form, then the date you returned it should be used. If it is not clear then it could be the date that the Decision was made.

A reduced award normally starts on the day that the Decision is made.

No, you will not have to pay anything back.

Quick update (in case it helps anyone in the same situation at the moment).

I called DWP 28 days before ending date (at 9am) and my award has been extended by 12 months.

Apparently the Award / letter had just been "generated" and would be sent out that day - (I imagine it'll take a couple of weeks to get here).

It had been extended because of the "backlog".

I asked if they had any idea when my review would be completed or if I could expect to hear about a possible medical assessment in the near future - they couldn't say because of the backlog etc, but they were very nice & helpful and did tell me that a decision maker hasn't looked at my award yet.

I know that my award could change at anytime once they make a decision, but at least I've got a bit of breathing room and knowing what stage it's at at the moment is helpful.

Thanks everyone at the site & thanks again Gordon
