Raising a high level formal complaint against DWP was created by IJLane
My partner's advance & on-the-day requests for reasonable adjustments for her telephone PIP review assessment were completely ignored by the assessor. As a direct result my partner has now relapsed severely.
We wish to raise a complaint a the highest level possible, since the DWP have repeatedly ignored the requests over quite a few years.
Has anyone done this & who did you address the compaint to?
It's pretty useless using the DWP's own compaints procedure as they just don't do anything useful.
Is there an effective Ombudsman service for example?
Another route is to find a free legal service that would put together a 'class action' to bundle together similar complaints & take the DWP to court (again!).
All ideas are very welcome, hopefully the result could be an improved more understanding service, but I could be dreaming here!

Hi IJLane
If reasonable adjustments were not made for your partner's telephone assessment, the first people to complain to is whoever carried out the assessment.
IAS - www.mypipassessment.co.uk/feedback/ or Capita www.capita-pip.co.uk/en/contact-us#Complaint
I know you want to go to a higher level - but your complaint will probably be ignored if you haven't given them an opportunity to respond.
If you get an unsatisfactory response - which you probably will - you could then complain to the DWP as they are using these companies. You could make a complaint to the DWP and say that you have not had a satisfactory response - www.gov.uk/government/organisations/depa...complaints-procedure
If you're not happy with their response, look at the government's charter and see if they are following that. www.gov.uk/government/publications/our-c...our-customer-charter
If you're still not happy write to them again and ask for the DWP Complaints Team to look at your complaint.
If you’re still not happy with the reply from the DWP Complaints Team, you can contact the Independent Case Examiner. They’re an independent complaints body -Make sure to send full details of your complaint to the Independent Case Examiner - don’t assume the DWP will pass them on. www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-t...endent-case-examiner
You can't list go straight to the Independent Case Examiner with your complaint because you need to show why you are not happy with a response from the DWP.
With regard to possibly take a class action that is something you would need to research yourself.
