HOW DO I FIND OUT QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PIP DISABILITY ANALYST

Hello, The disability analyst from IAS who conducted my PIP assessment was a Nurse. Do IAS have to disclose to me what qualifications / specialist knowledge she has ? I know her to be an ADULT nurse ( she can have one of 4 specialisms apparently as a Nurse - adult, child, mental health or learning disability) . I do not think she had any specialist knowledge of neuro diversity which i feel is important when assessing a person with Autism. Can anybody offer any help or advice please ?
I have complained to IAS but they just keep referring back to the medical report she wrote ( which is totally inaccurate )

I have checked the nursing register but they have no information other than ADULT NURSE ( RGN)

I should have asked her on the day, but my mind was a blank at the end of the assessment.

Thank you.

Hi SRW1

IAS doesn't have to disclose what specialist knowledge any of their assessors have. There is an assumption that they have been through the assessors' training and have the knowledge to assess anyone regarding the PIP criteria. Many people would disagree with this.

The issue is - what are you trying to do? If you are going for an MR you won't overturn the decision focusing on the assessors' qualifications because it doesn't matter to IAS, and it won't make a difference to the points you have been awarded.

You say the medical report is "totally inaccurate" - so that is where your focus should be. You may want to complain about the quality of the report, and you could do that through the complaints procedure.

The most important thing is to improve on whatever you have or haven't been awarded. Take each question - and write why you think the score given is wrong, say what you think you should have scored and reiterate the evidence you have. You can say that the assessor was "incorrect" in assumptions they have made, or they were "mistaken" in saying that you said something which you didn't, but don't waste any time calling into question their qualifications.
