Have I made the wrong choice. was created by Sammianne
I received an appointment for review assesment.
It was face to face and coincided date and time with my hospital neuro spinal orthopaedics which I can't miss appointment so rang them to change time.

They did that no problem. I also then asked if I would be able to wait away from others for assessment.
She said she yes I understand, is it due to your anxiety, would a telephone assessment be better for you.

I also asked if it could be a male assessor as due to anxiety and other problems I can't cope with anything else as that had been done for me previous pip and ESA reviews, and again no problem she said.

She gave me new appointment date, time and name of assessor it will be with.

She was very helpful actually, but my concern here is have I made a mistake in going for the offered telephone appointment instead of just a rescheduled f2f.

So less stressful for me, but I don't know much about telephone assessments, and wonder if I have done myself harm here in that they can't see me, and stuff they normally look at in person they can't do that, and I'm so worried I can't explain properly what they can't see, (though to be fair with hidden disability that can be so overlooked face to face too).

How different is a telephone to a face to face question wise.

Hi Sammianne

I can't answer your question. You made the decision, and I would try not to churn over whether you have done the right thing. Some people prefer telephone assessments because it means they don't have to travel, and others dislike them because the assessor can't see them and can make incorrect assumptions. In reality, plenty of people have had face-to-face assessments, and the assessor has still made mistakes and made assumptions about how the person appears. There are plus and minus whichever type of assessment you have, and the only time people feel they have had the right one is if they get the award they wanted. So please don't make yourself ill thinking you should have had a face-to-face assessment. In either situations, you can forget what you want to say and leave thinking you didn't explain yourself well enough. All you can do is try your best.

I hope it goes well for you.
