PIP and Blue Badge was created by Porttalbot
I received the daily living component when I was about 60 years old but then awarded mobility component (8 points) after I was 65 and receiving state pension. As I was over 65 when receiving the mobility component I was not entitled to receive the financial award associated with the mobility component.
However, the problem I have is when I apply for a blue badge my local authority will not accept the original letter from DWP which outlining both the daily living and mobility component awards because the letter was dated a few years ago, and the yearly update letters from DWP only refers to the daily living component and no mention of the mobility award. This means I have to go down the discretionary route to get a blue badge which is not guaranteed to be successful.
Therefore, is it acceptable for me to write to the DWP asking them if they could issue a new letter stating both awards or could you advise of an alternative way around this issue as I`m sure I`m not the only one to have this problem.
Thanking you
Stuart

Hi Porttalbot
I haven't come across this - I've only ever heard of claimants being told they can't have a mobility award upgraded or issued for the first time over the age of 65.
The yearly letter is as I would expect that you have the daily living component of PIP.
I don't think you will get anywhere trying to get a letter from the DWP which says that you have been awarded the mobility component. I don't think there is a way around this issue other than for you to apply through the discretionary route, but If I'm wrong, one of the other mods will correct me.
