Reassessment back dated to original date of paperwok being submitted? was created by JockR
My wife received a copy of of her PA4 on 16 June 23 (Reassessment as PIP award was due to run out)and it seems that she will qualify for enhanced mobility previously she didnt qualify.
We completed her reassesmment for on the 08 Jun 22 and had a video assesment 08 Jun 23. Today the 30 Jun 23 she received payment from DWP of £xxxx not yet received any award letter. Is it normal for awards to be backdated to the date you send in the original re-assessment paperwork?

Hi JockR
Yes it is normal for claimants who have requested a change in circumstances and not a review.
We have received a number of posts this week from members who thought their new award should go back to when they completed their review form. This is not the case, normal payment are made until a decision has been made at which point claimants will received an increase in their award or for some a decrease in their award.
For claimants who have reported a change in circumstances then their award will be from the date they reported the change, which is why we advise members who report a change over the phone to follow it up in a letter sent by recorded delivery.

Hi Gary, This was not a request from us, this was a review as the previous award was expiring instigated by DWP, a quick calculation of the unexpected payment is very close to 1 year of back payments of enhanced mobility as stated we have not yet received DM letter. Obviously we will not touch this money until we know its rightfully my wifes and not a payment error by DWP.
