Pip Review Mobility was created by artus
Hi,

I got a text for a PIP review, they’ll send me the form. I’m now in enhanced rate for both components of PIP. I suffer from psychosis, hallucinations, severe depression and heart problems.
In the section of mobility I’ve doubts. When I’m in crisis I cannot walk, even get out of bed. I never go out regardless. But how should I answer the mobility question? Ought I say I cannot walk 200 meters because the burden of my fears and depression? Also, when I get stressed I can get shaking and my heart rate go very high. I suffer from tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks

Hi artus

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

Having a fluctuating condition is very hard to answer, ideally you will want to keep a day diary about your condition and how it affects you, remember it based on the majority of time.

If you kept a copy of your previous application use that as a template to complete the review, you can add extra pages just make sure you number the pages and put your name and NI number on each page.

Don't forget to use our guide to help you; benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip

Hi Gray,

Thanks for your answer. But could you be a bit more precise? I already have the guide, Thanks. My main concern is with the mobility part. The walking one. In my previous application several years ago I said I could walk, thinking in the physical condition only, when in fact it’s really hard to me any walking in crisis. I didn’t get the enhanced mobility component but I did a MR, they refused it, I told them I’d appeal to the tribunal and they changed the decision in a couple of days.
My question now is regarded to this specific final part of the form. Because it seems to be totally focus in physical disabilities. Nevertheless, I’m not clear.

Thanks again,

Artus

First, the two Mobility activities are separated by the underlying disability, so Mobility 1 covers issues that are the result of a sensory, mental health or cognitive issue, Mobility 2 covers physical limitations that limit that the claimant can walk.

You appear to potentially have issues that are covered by both activities, you need to be careful and separate your problems as appropriate. Don't be tempted to allow crossover between the two activities, this will only devalue the content you are supplying on the form.

You should also pay close attention to the "reliability" criteria and the majority of days as your post suggests some variability with you conditions.

Thanks you very much Gordon. You clarify a lot! I must avoid mixed up the two answer, though they can be related.
