I feel I was wrongly given the lower component after a face to face interview on both sections of my Pip application. I have a mobility illness that has got progressively worse, so as I got less mobile I appealed and was given a telephone interview by a very abrupt rude interviewer, as a result of the interview this man determined that I did not qualify and DWP removed my award completely an award that had no end date initially! I immediately wrote to DWP to complain and they did not reply but quietly re-instated my initial award with no upgrade. I have stayed quiet on this fearing that they would remove it again, but, my diagnosed progressive illness now means that I cannot stand or walk for more than a few minutes prob 10 yards without needing to sit. Since the initial reward I am now of pensionable age, can I reapply to be assessed or will they remove my award. Please help
Although you could put in for a change of circumstances, once you are 65 the mobility component of PIP cannot be raised above the level a claimant already has. So if a person had no mobility award - they could not be offered one. Anyone who has a standard mobility award - cannot have it increased to an enhanced award
