BT social tarriff questions was created by BS65
wasn't sure where to post this so apols if in wrong place.
I read your latest newsletter about good/bad BT social tarriff.

What I hope somebody can answer are:
1 - is it true you can use 3 wired landline telephones using a special adapter?
BT claim you can
2 - if on the social tarriff and there is a power cut can you still use the phone?
3 - do you lose your landline phone number
4 - can you still use your big buttoned telephones

many thanks. I am reluctant to supply them with my NI/esa details to switch until I can find out these 4 answers first.
thanks so much everyone and keep fighting out there,
Bert

Your question really is outside the remit for the forum but as a computer user, I will try and answer your questions.

1. Not sure about the three wire bit but if you have a standard BT socket at your property then any phone that plugs into that will work.

As part of your installation your will be sent a Broadband filter, this has two sockets you plug your current phone into one and the supplied Broadband router into the other.

2. As long as you have a phone plugged in and not an answering machine or similar that then communicates with a handset by wireless, then yes, you should still be able to make and receive calls.

3. Depending on the package you go for, some do not require a landline, you can retain your existing phone number.

4. If you can use one now then getting broadband should not change this.
