Hi bonniedog

I'm not sure what you're trying to link to.

Any person who has knowledge of you and your conditions and how they impact your daily living and/or mobility could write a letter that you could use as supporting evidence. It's not the type of job they have that will help or hinder - it is what they write. So only ask someone you trust and get them to comment on things they know. If someone writes you a letter and there's something in it that you think could hinder your case - don't send it off.

An example which I often tell people about is when a health professional wrote a letter in which they said - "X can't work at the moment." The comment was true - but it implied that they could be well enough to work in the future. We knew they wouldn't be and knew that there was a danger they might be reassessed in a short space of time. The family didn't use the letter even though it came from one of the claimant's primary health professionals. It wasn't worth the risk when we knew the DWP could put their own spin upon it.

So any letters or reports you get from anyone - read them carefully and make sure there's nothing that could harm your case.

Hi bonniedog

Yes, anyone could fill it in. I can't say whether or not what someone says will carry any weight because it depends on what they say and whether or not an assessor thinks it relevant. You can't anticipate what an assessor will give weight to - you can only decide to submit additional evidence that you believe is relevant and keep your fingers crossed. When I've helped people complete their forms, I've always encouraged them to submit evidence from anyone who knows how the claimant's condition/s impacts their life in respect of the PIP criteria.

As I said in my previous post - it's not so much the job of the person that is important it is what they say. Only you know whether people who know you can offer something positive.
