So I had a letter today about the Dwp wanting to increase my repayments from an existing overpayment and I'm not really sure what to do as I don't particularly want to incease the repayment.
Perhaps they noticed I won my PIP claim with a back payment (thanks to you guys), and as a response they want to increase it for that reason? I don't know for sure what triggered it.
Would they be in the rights to force an increase just because I'm now receiving more money and can seemingly afford it? Do they check bank balances etc?
I've been unable to find any decent reading on this to get myself clued up so would appreciate any advice on the matter.
I'm sorry, but your question is outside the remit of the forum. If they're trying to increase your payments, I would talk to a specialist welfare advisor and get their take on what rights you have. The DWP do have the right to ask to see bank statements and prove your financial position.
