PIP Review telephone consultation was created by AlexB
I sent in my Pip review on 20/09 I am scared stiff it’s an phone one and I am autistic have long Covid and lots of other things but I am not comfortable speaking on the phone myself.
Since I sent in the review paper work , the council assessed me and found myself not safe and put in a walk in level shower and a stairlift because I fall so often I have been referred to the geriatric falls clinic at our local hospital and been diagnosed with long Covid but I was to scared to ring up and add the changes .

What can I expect from the phone assessment?
And will the changes that happened make s difference , I am on standard care , have a carer 5 times a week to get me up and showered or dressed, I am not using a wheelchair 95% of the time only cruise holding on to furniture/ walls in the house .

Are we allowed to tape the call ?

Hi Alex B

If you get asked to do a telephone assessment, you can always ask for them to change to a paper-based assessment, saying that with your autism it is difficult to communicate on the phone. If you could get a letter from your GP saying that a telephone assessment would cause you "Overwhelming psychological distress" - that might help. The DWP has no legal obligation to change the type of assessment, but they sometimes do.

If you have a telephone assessment, you can explain any relevant adaptations. You can also tell them about the Long Covid.

You can also put in a letter now - seeking a change of circumstances and including the Long Covid. They may send out a new form, but if you were to receive an increase, it would be backdated to the point of which you informed them of the change.
