I'm new to the forum and wondered if anyone could help with my query.
I have been waiting for 18 months to find out the outcome of my PIP review, up to this point I was receiving the standard rate for both sections, but had asked to be considered for the enhanced rate.
My results finally came thru and I hadn't been awarded the enhanced rate and had actually lost some points. The proffesional who completed my forms for me appealed, and I was awarded the enhanced rate for mobility, and given the award for 10 years, which was great but they only backdated the 'money' to the date the appeal went in.
I was under impression it would be backdated to the date I originally submitted my forms 18 months ago, is this right? When I first applied for PIP this was what they did, but maybe things have changed now.
I would be really gratefully for some feedback on this.
Yes, it's right. If you had been awarded what you hoped for the first time, the new award would have been from the decision letter. You put in an appeal - so it's backdated to that point. If during the time you have been waiting for your review to take place and you had written to the DWP with a change of circumstances - and said that your condition had deteriorated, it would have been backdated to the date you had informed them of the change.
