Pip review question. was created by Sammianne
Hello.
I can't ask what I should do, not a fair question, but hoping you can advise and clarify.

I had my PIP review assesment by telephone recently.
I don't know the current timescale re assessment to decision, guess it depends on the workload of the office dealing with it, but I know currently ball park figure is up to 8 weeks.

It's my 3rd assesment in total over a few years, but first review as last one was time limited with 2 year end date, so they sent new claim form 6 weeks before end date that time.

This last review was unlike any assesment I've had before.
It was clear that they had read by forms, and previous and all med evidence letters I'd sent this time and previous from earlier claims.

They certainly had experienced knowledge of my conditions, so thankful I suppose they were a nurse on the profession of the assessor.

They went into great detail on my mobility problems which had deteriorated in the years since last assesment and also new diagnosis.
My mobility wasn't gone into much detail at all previously with previous assesments.
They covered all the points Id put on the worsening and new diagnosis, and specialist help and support I get, extra aids I have, etc but on reflection there was some that were left out if not altogether, they were certainly just glossed over.
No additional questions either that I've heard are sometimes asked like what's the change out of an amount or spell something etc.

Thing is right up to the point of assesment I was beyond anxious and could think of nothing else, catastrophising everything, (can't help it, it's my mental health and brain damage combined), but curiously since review I am of the mind of kind of assuming the worst, and a whatever will be will be with it. I'm exhausted to be fair, think my brain has shut down about it to give it a rest.

This is where my problem is.
As I am kind of numbed currently, I can't decide whether to leave it until I get the decision, or whether to ring and ask for the assessors report (can't remember what it's called).
If it's a terrible report, (still remember the sheer weeks/months of hell after first assesment back around 8 years ago up to the point they changed their decision just prior to appeal date) - I don't know what the report would do to me while waiting for the decision.
If however I want to face it head on and ask for the report, do you know if it would have a detrimental effect on the case managers decision because I'd called up and asked for it?

So can asking for the report have a bad effect on final decision?

Or should I just wait in the ignorance of the facts and the respite I currently have where I'm not tearing myself to bits about it, after thinking about nothing else but for the last year my review forms have been in.

Also do you know as I have changed my primary contact number to landline and not mobile, if DWP PIP will still send SMS msg that they have the report, or now that mobile number is secondary contact number, if they don't send txts out as if secondary it may not be seen so they don't.

Sorry this has been such a long post, and hope you can understand my ramblings.

Hi Sammianne

You have nothing to fear by ringing and asking for a copy of the report. A request for the report has no bearing on the decision. A lot of people do it. It's called a PA4.

Whether you get a text message about the report is a complete hit-and-miss these days, so I wouldn't worry about it.

If you get hold of the form and you're worried about what it might say - if you have someone else who can read it - let them take a look for you and just tell you what points the health professional recommends. It will be on the final page. Then you can decide whether or not you want to read it.
