Text from independent assessment services - how long until consultation? was created by nicmcc
This evening I received an text message from Independent Assessment Services
"Hello from Independent Assessment Services. We conduct Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions DWP. This is for information purposes only, to let you know that we are managing your PIP assessment. We will look at the available evidence and will contact you with an appointment if we need to have a consultation with you. You can find information about the service we provide at www.mypipassessment.co.uk. You do not need to contact us."
Anybody had this recently? - how long was it from the text until an appointment for a medical / consultation?
(I'm in the North of England if that makes any difference).
Do they still do house calls?
My first medical assessment (from DLA to PIP) was at my house - where I actually got a higher PIP award.
But, my first PIP renewal was during Covid and on the phone - my Living was reduced from Higher to Standard (got the assessors report - lots of inaccuracies - especially about my physical issues). We don't have a car & can't drive - face to face is worse for my Anxiety Disorder but, then they can physically see my physical issues - which in theory should make it more accurate / hard for things to be "misconstrued"
Background:
PIP Current Award end date - Originally: 12th July 23 - then Extended for "12" months
Standard care & Enhanced mobility
Sent review for back Jan 23
DWP text confirming receipt: 9th Jan 23
Following advice here I called the DWP 28 days before the end of the award (June 23) and was told my award was extended for 12 months and a decision maker hasn't yet looked at it.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi nicmcc
This is one of the standard texts that the Independent Assessment Services sends out - one of our members had this same text last week.
Very few face-to-face assessments are being done -but those that are being carried out are being done at assessment centres, not in people's homes. If they want to speak to you, you will probably be offered a phone assessment. You can ask them to change it to face-to-face if you prefer. Whether they can accommodate you will depend on the availability of assessors and centres.
I can't tell you how quickly you will receive an appointment. It could be weeks - it could still be months.
