How do I get into Support Group for ESA? was created by David123
Hi,
I have stage 4 Sarcoidosis and pulmonary fibrosis, and have been diagnosed with chronic exhaustion, along with myalgias and athralgias and cognitive dysfunction, brain fog, confusion, short term memory loss, concentration problems, severe breathlessness, gasping, dysfunctional breathing (caused by thousands of non metastatic tumours/granulomas/ scarring in lungs, dont inflate and deflate properly)
(By two specialist doctors, and my GP)
I have very low energy, and spend a lot of time in bed, with a crashing physical and mental exhaustion.
(Some of my symptoms are pretty much identical to severe ME. I have been very severe in the past, bedbound, for months on end. )
I have not made a claim yet. I read that once I did make a claim, I would only have four weeks to fill in the ESA50 form, and so Ive been unsuccessfully trying to wrap my head around the new style ESA50 questionnaire form for months, in advance, but I am finding it next to impossible and very stressful, because of memory loss, and concentration, confusion problems.
Its too complicated. (I have letters from specialists saying that I should be considered permanantly incapacitated)
I wrote some daily logs from April and June and August, but I cannot fill out this ESA50 form.
What do I need to do to get into the support group for new style ESA?
I am really struggling and need some help. What should I do next?
Thankyou

SG is awarded to claimants who meet one or more of the SG Descriptors, most coincide with the 15 point Descriptors for the WRAG, our ESA/UC Claim guide explains what you will need to show, there are also some Exceptional Circumstances that also give access to the SG.
Whilst the DWP can excuse you from completing an ESA50 it is unlikely that this will happen with a new claim.
Create a plan, start with the activities that you are most likely to score for make notes for each and then try and complete one a day, then go back to the ones you are less likely to score against and have a go at them.
The guide has worked examples and a simple to use formula for replying to each requirement.
If you have specific questions then come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.

Trying to fill out these forms is like subjecting an able bodied person, to sleep deprivation, keeping them awake in a room for 5 days and nights, and then asking them to write a thesis on a subject they know nothing about, which falls out of your memory within 24 hours. Its absolute torture, the DWP are subhuman and disgusting creatures.
