PIP Review Update was created by Nnif
The PIP award I was given in 2020 was due to end on 7th October 2023. I received the review paperwork at the beginning of February and sent it back within a fortnight. After working myself into a stew over waiting for a response, I posted a message and was told that this whole process can take anywhere up to 18 months.
I decided to get on with life as worrying about it all wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve received 4 text messages letting me know that the review is still being processed and I can still be called to see a health professional. Also, that I will continue to receive my current rate.
Today I received a letter which more or less states the same thing as the text messages but the end date of my award has been extended by one year to 7th October 2024.
I really don’t get the delay (The conditions for which I received the award haven’t changed and now there’s two more diagnoses added to the claim) Then again, I don’t work for the DWP. Has this happened to anyone else?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Nnif
We hear from many members on the forum where they have received an extension letter only then to be sent a review form.
If you have a change of circumstances, have you informed DWP of your change of circumstances? The difference between a review and applying for a Change of Circumstances, a review takes effect from when a decision is made whereas Change of Circumstances take effect from the date of the phone call/letter.

Hi Gary,
I only made the DWP aware of the changes in my health in the renewal review as in my opinion it won’t change the level of my award. Even since February I have had more stuff that could potentially go on the form but as I already receive enhanced, I’m not going to delay things further by submitting a change of circumstances.
