Housing Benefit Award Accuracy Initiative was created by TrueDefective
I received a letter concerning a "Housing Benefit Award Accuracy Initiative" from my council, which said "your housing benefit claim has been selected for review". There's very little information online about this, but from what I can gather, there is maybe some sort of algorithm or formula for picking out claims at higher risk of a discrepancy between the amount of the award and entitlement.
I was directed to an online form, which was straightforward enough, but I suffer from anxiety and agoraphobia and am feeling very anxious about them interrogating me, having to go to some interview at council premises etc. I can show that all that is coming into my account are my ESA and HB, and that I'm below the savings threshold.
I was wondering if any mods or members have experience or knowledge of this "initiative" and what I might expect from this point onwards. If you've had it yourself, was filling in the form sufficient, or were you asked for evidence? If the latter, how far back did they expect you to go? My initial HB claim goes back over 20 years, would I be expected to provide records that far back?
Many thanks in advance for your help and support.

Hi TrueDefective,
I used to work in local government, and whenever a request for information like this was required, it used to be 5 years plus the current that they would go back on, however I'm not sure if this is based on (per council).
Other mods or claimants on the website may be able to advise you further,
Regards, Chris.
