ESA - Telephone Assessment Didn't Happen

Hi headabovethewater

I haven't heard the term 'scrutiny phase', but I can see that it's a term you could use when a claimant's form is being looked at to decide the next phase. Now originally, you were going to have a telephone assessment, but that never happened because they had done a paper-based assessment. I assume now your form is in the 'scrutiny' stage to make the final decision. This time I am speculating - but I think that's a plausible explanation. Will be happy if anyone comes and contradicts me. I'm sorry this is being such a long, drawn-out process for you. Well done to the family member for trying to get a clear picture.

When I worked in an Unemployment Benefit Office (UBO) decades ago, we would “scrut” the claims the day before “signing”. It was just to check that everything about the claim was OK and current so that when the claimant came in all they had to do was sign.

My letter came today, it confirms I have been placed in the support group. Thank you so much for the advice and amazing guides. I went through step by step when filling in the esa50, added all my evidence and paid for gp letter. They also sent a form to my gp to fill out - I never did get to see what was said but gp knows my conditions well I'm there so often.

Timeline for anyone waiting Sent my esa50 form back in mid August and got awarded start of October 23.

My telephone assessment never happened so it was decided on paper assessment. I notice the award isn't like my pip award. It doesn't have an award end date? Should it? It simply confirms I'm in support group. Also as it was paper assessment will I get to find out how they decided? Or should I let sleeping dogs lie 🤔

As usual the site is amazing thank you for the hand hold and the amazing guides, just have pip renewal call date awaiting now, wonder what delights that will bring, so looking forward to a break from this, been going on since end July 🫣

Hi headabovethewater

Congratulations on your award, well done. You can always contact the DWP for a subject access request to get a copy of assessors report and form sent to GP to complete.

If you get a copy of the assessors report, ESA85 they usually have a review date on them.

You can have a well deserved rest before the onset of PIP ;-)

Thank you, also I forgot to ask, my fitnote is until January but does that mean I won't need to ask for another now? 🤔 apologies for the ignorance!
