I applied for DLA for my 2 year old daughter back in February as she requires significantly more care and attention as a result of suffering from chronic constipation. This has been diagnosed via children's hospital.
My daughter requires medication and additional support and reassurance due her condition.
However, her DLA Claim was declined. MR was also declined.
Any advice on this would be appreciated as I worry the tribunal won't understand the effect this condition has on my daughter and how much it impacts her.
I've also been advised that because I requested a telephone hearing I have less chance of winning, is this true as my daughter wouldn't attend in person anyway
As we do not know your daughter or how her condition affects her , we cannot offer an opinion. What I would say is to do a day diary for a week on how your daughter's condition affects her.
You can also write a supporting on what additional care you give your daughter and why.
I would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare Rights organisation who will be able to take into account her circumstances; advicelocal.uk
