PIP Assessment Booked But No Evidence

Hi,

I am new here. I hope everyone is doing as well as they can.

I applied for PIP around three months ago and completely forgot to send off the evidence. I think it was too many steps for me, so I procrastinated until I missed the deadline and forgot about it.

I then received a text and letter inviting me to a telephone assessment, but I was confused as I had sent in no evidence. I thought they would have disregarded the application.

Should I cancel and restart the application again? I have the evidence, I just didn't send it. I am worried with no evidence, the call will go against me as I won't be able to back up what I tell them.

I have ADHD & Cyclothymia (borderline bipolar).

I'm just not good at doing things on time or things that feel too 'big' of a task and I wish I couldn't say that this won't happen again but I can't.

Hi mumof3,

Welcome to the forum. I would just send it off now, but remember to include your N.I number, and keep copies of everything you send, then if you have no joy via the assessment, just go to a Mandatory Reconsideration, and send the same evidence again. Brain Fog does happen with people, so they need to take this into consideration.
If you can, try view the guides on the website, as they'll give you some really helpful advice to follow.

p.s. - I have sent additional evidence at a later date before myself via post, and uploaded online, which you can do after registering.

Hope this helps,

Regards Chris.

Thank you so much. I had the assessment today. Very disconnected to the outcome although I had major anxiety on the call.

I will be sitting down this weekend to read through the guides. I have them downloaded! I will take your advice and send off the documentation.

I was invited to register but I did not sign up so let's see what happens!

Hi mumof3,

Anytime, happy to help. I think even if you weren't anxious during the call, it's so easy to be after the call, due to the amount of things that seems to be said on the assessors report that is basically 'Incorrect'.

Registering can be beneficial because you can upload your evidence online, if you get all the way to the courts tribunal stage, it saves a bit on postage costs, and you also don't have the worry of wondering if RM has delivered your paperwork.

Just remember, it's never over till the very end, so you've still plenty of options left yet to fight :).

Regards, Chris.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your response. So, I got the text today that I was awarded. I called the automated line to get my rate and they awarded me the daily living rate but I feel like I should have gotten mobility.

I will not lie, I did procrastinate on filling in the online form like you recommended. After the call, I received a text stating that they had my report and it would take 8 weeks for a decision, so in my head I had a few weeks. I did not expect to get a decision so fast.

My thing is now, I am going to see a specialist on Monday so the only thing I have to show that I have a physical issue is my MRI results. My condition has been going on for a significant time and I only just got a doctor to take me seriously.

I am not sure if it's worth doing the MR knowing very well I can be immobile due to the pain or wait until I've seen the surgeon and then submit a change of circumstances.

Hi mumof3,

It certainly is a tough one to answer tbh, it's all down to yourself as a person and if you wish to go for it. I've known people put in a change of circumstances and fight all the way to the end, but I've also known some people just stick with what they've been awarded due to the uncertainty, that a re-assessment could find them losing their award, then it's another several months, even going into years, completing the whole process again.

There could be other claimants on the forum who have been in a similar situation, who can maybe advise what they've done, and it may help you with making your decision.

Sorry I couldn't have been of any further help, but good luck with whatever you decide.

Regards, Chris.
