Universal credit review – urgent was created by Glitter Pink
Hi,
Please can someone help me. Universal credit have asked me for 4 months of bank statements.
For 1 of my accounts where I’ve had no transactions for 2 months RBS bank have told me that they do not automatically generate a statement for those months as they are no transactions.
The agent who is dealing with my review from universal credit has told me that I need to go back to the bank and ask them for statements as yes they can generate statements. I have asked my bank on four separate occasions to generate statements for me. They have generated statements based on the timeframe I asked for, however he is claiming that they are transaction this. And the file is actually labelled transaction list from the bank. But it does say statements on the document. The bank is telling me that this is the best they can do and they cannot give me anything more. He is saying that it is not enough. I don’t know what to do, I’m extremely worried and distressed by this. I have until the 12th of October to provide statements that the bank tell me they cannot generate , and he is telling me that what they have generated is not good enough. Someone please help me as I am feeling extremely anxious and unwell because of all of this. I have 1p in that account. I’ve barely had any transactions and like I said for 2 months they were no transactions. I feel suffocated and harassed by universal credit over this.
It’s extremely depressing and making my health issues even worse.
I don’t know what I will do if they stop my money. And I just don’t know what to do when it comes to the statements, I can’t make the bank produce something that they are telling me they can’t produce. Someone please help me.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Glitter PInk,
It seems that the DWP agent is being obstructive. You need to make a manager's complaint. If you tell me the county that you live in I will locate the manager responsible. You can then make a complaint through your UC journal for the attention of the DWP manager.

Hi David,
Thank you so much for your reply. I live in Cardiff UK. Please can you share with me what sort of thing I should say to the manager as an example.
Many thanks, I look forward to your reply.

Hi Glitter PInk,
The manager for your area you need to complain to is Andrew Moseley.
So type out your complaint in the UC Journal for the attention of Andrew Moseley, District Manager. When you have typed out the complaint in your UC Journal, from the drop down list choose A Payment. Then you can copy and paste the same message and this time from the drop down list choose the option " Service Issue ". It is important to send the complaint twice as they have been known to get lost in the DWP pipework.
As for your complaint, I think what you said to me conveys the urgency of the situation admirably

Hi David, thank you very much for your reply. I acted on your advice. After leaving the message on universal credit I received a message back from the agent dealing with my review(Not the manager I actually wrote to). He apologised for the delay in getting back to me and said that the bank statements I uploaded were acceptable. I can’t thank you enough for your support as I got a quick resolution to the obstruction the agent was doing with my bank statements, unfortunately.
However, I now have the phone call that has been scheduled after my bank statements have been looked at, it is due to happen in around 30 minutes. I feel sick with anxiety, my stomach has been hurting and I feel lightheaded. I feel physically and mentally ill because of this. I don’t understand why they have to put me through this. I can barely cope with things like this, it’s awful. I definitely think there’s something wrong with the system to do this to people.
I will update after I have had the phone call.
