PIP at state pension age was created by Leanne2730
I have read that state pensioners receive only a light touch review re PIP? Is this accurate? I have gained the impression that in receipt of state pension or in the months leading up to that date the DWP tries to reduce PIP entitlement? Any thoughts anyone?

Hi Leanne2730
You can check out what was said at the time. www.disabilityrightsuk.org/news/2019/may...ht%20thing%20to%20do.
Some people have been dismayed at having a review before they reach state pension age - but if it is due they will send out an ordinary review form.

Thank you for the reply. I had my recent review at the end of August 2024 and reach retirement age in December ie 4 months apart. It was a review that resulted in a successful MR. I obtained the impression that because I was about to gain the State Pension the DWP wanted to discontinue the PIP. I may of course have misjudged the situation entirely and may just have had an incompetent assessor. However reading the above link you have provided it seems that the opposite is true and that claimants of both State Pension and PIP are going to be supported to claim both. It is confusing to say the least. Of course the welfare bill has escalated since COVID so maybe there has been a change in strategy and a light touch approach is no longer the case?

Hi Leanne2730
You have nothing to worry about. Your PIP will continue even after you reach SPA in December. In the future, you will receive a light-touch review. If anything changes, Steve will put it in the Newsletter.

Well thank you for that. If course if concern is we now have a socialist government which seems to be targeting the retired population - so I am not as confident as you are!
I guess we will see.
