Hi all, I'm having a UC review done on my claim and they asked for 3 months of bank statements, then they asked for a whole year's statements, and now they're asking for 8 years of bank statents for my entire claim. Does anybody know why could they need this? Why was the previous years statements not enough? Has this happened to anyone else? Thank you.

Hi Aliceclaims,
This sounds as if you have fallen victim of the Universal Credit Enhanced Review Team. Yes, other members have reported being asked for bank statements going back 12 months. I can't recall anyone being asked for 8 years worth. The best thing to do is to send a UC Journal message enquiring why they are needed. Type the message and from the drop down choose A Payment as the recipient option. There is no point in asking a Work Coach as they wouldn't know. The " A Payment" option means the message is routed to the Case Manager.

Hiya, i haven't had this yet - but i will and am expecting it.
In my case it is under-reporting of capital. I had declared capital of 13k in savings accounts but had no idea that residual balance in the current account should have been declared too.
It was with some anxiety i checked all statements going back to 2019 (claim start)
I was mightily relieved to find that 16k had never been exceeded but there has been a residual balance there some months that should have been declared.
13k declared where some months it has been up to 14.5k.
Could yours be something similar? I know they always check the whole claim if it's undeclared capital.

Hi Anisty
There is what UC call Tariff Income for savings over £6000.
This means that it is assumed to generate an income of £4.35 per month for each £250 over £6,000. Which is unfair as it equates to an interest rate of 20%.
