PIP - whether to challenge? was created by Sara
Hi! So on PIP review (allegedly paper based but lengthy telephone conversations with 11 questions), my daughter kept her enhanced daily/care element and was awarded enhanced mobility this time. However, there are some descriptors which I challenged from first award, notably social and communication issues (she is autistic, ADHD) but has still scored no points. I supplied evidence (eg SaLT report, DSA report, info from GP and psychologist) but still no points. I explained her difficulties but as she is not aggressive (which was the only thing assessor seemed interested in) and because she went to university, she's deemed not to have any issues. Allegedly I didn't produce evidence - which I did - and when I asked in the assessment what additional evidence they wanted, I was told I was the best source of evidence! I am not sure whether to challenge, clearly i don't want a reassessment of whole claim. But I am concerned that 1) no challenging will be seen as acceptance for next review and 2) it means that her PIP report can't be used as proof for some other benefits eg Nimbus card. Is it possible to lodge a 'disagreement' with DWP without invoking a MR/reassessment?

Hi Sara

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.

It is not seen as acceptance, once you get 12 points it makes no difference, getting enhanced for both components is all the proof you need.

I don't think you should put yourself through additional stress, what you can do to put your mind at ease is to contact DWP and ask for a copy of the assessors report, if it was a paper assessment then it will be called a PA3 if it was a telephone assessment then it will be called a PA4.
