I have received the text my PIP review is completed which will mean up to two weeks of stress waiting time. I am glad I didn't have to go through an assessment. Not sure if this is positive or negative. I was going to add to my evidence that I have been diagnosed with spinal arthritis on top of Parkinson's and COPD, but the review has now happened. If I report the new condition will it trigger a new review. I don't know if I could handle the stress.

The tax office reported to UC that my wife earned double of her actual earnings in a 2 year running saga.

2 years ago the tax office reported to UC that my wife's earnings for one month was double than her actual earnings. I challenged the error and it was decided that it was an error and her earnings were half the amount. They paid the money owed, and then without us knowing they paid the money again. We had an overpayment which we repaid.

August 24 we received a letter saying that we were overpaid for the month in question by £354 because my wife's earnings was double than what it really was and UC will recover the money. I did a reconsideration. Before the consideration was complete the debt recovery department deducted £154 for the overpayment that we didn't owe. Dec 24 we win reconsideration but are now £154 out of pocket. Contact UC via the journal and they tell me I have to contact debt recovery, which I did. Debt recovery told me I have to contact UC to tell them the £154 deduction is wrong and they will repay the money once UC contact them.

I receive another letter via the journal saying I will receive a payment of £354 because of the error in tax office reporting the error of my wife earning double than she actually did.

I replied to UC stating I don't think we are owed the £354 and I am claiming back the debt recovery amount for Nov 24 of £154.

I don't want UC coming back in the future saying we have been overpaid £354.

How can an error on the part of the tax office become so complex and drawn out with UC for over 2 years. The whole system is riddled with problems with staff who do not know what they are doing. A vulnerable person who does not understand UC and it's procedures would have been rob of £354 by UC.

If the UC continue to make errors like this over a 2 year or so period they should have to pay compensation.

Hi Onyx123

I'm sorry what has happened to you and HMRC - it sounds an absolute nightmare. I hope that it finally gets resolved completely and the issue does not arise again.

Glad to hear that your PIP review is now complete. You did have an assessment - but it was paper-based, so at least you didn't have to have contact with them. I hope you get the outcome you are seeking. The DWP always says that you should report a new condition straight away. Like you many are worried about it triggering a review. It shouldn't but I would wait to get your outcome and then you can tell them and just say you would like to add the information to your records and no action is needed!
